It depends. Does she wear thong bikinis on her own without your suggesting it? If she doesn’t then it’s for a reason. Most likely she wouldn’t feel comfortable showing that much of her body to anyone but you. You should take it as a compliment. Don’t buy it for her but bring it up and see if you can persuade her. Just don’t push it too much because then she might think that you won’t find her attractive UNLESS she wears something that slinky.

I think it is a Great Idea if your in a private area. In a non-private area (even adult-only and on a honeymoon), it opens the door to other men being tempted to look/think as they shouldn’t about Your bride. And, as a women, I can’t imagine how that would feel in public.
How adults only? I would consider the culture of where you are going then make your decision. Some cultures are highly offended by such exposure.
I think it wouldn’t hurt to ask.. but, just in case, ask in a very subtle manner…. bring it up at a good time…. don’t just jump in…. and don’t seem pushy or pleady….. but, really, I don’t see the problem in buying it, and asking her to wear it!!!
